The Young Canadians School of Performing Arts is a dynamic performing arts program designed to develop confident, strong and empowered young people. The school offers Calgary and surrounding-area youth the opportunity to train in dance, voice, and performance. Training is provided by a diverse team of professional faculty who encourage technical development, artistic creation, and performance excellence. The Young Canadians experience encompasses a well-rounded performing arts training program, multiple performances and workshops, as well as performing for an international audience of over 150,000 spectators at the annual Calgary Stampede Bell Grandstand Show. The training and performance season runs from September to July, annually.

ELIGIBILITY

Membership is open to children and youth between the ages of 8-21 from Calgary and the surrounding area.

REQUIREMENTS

Audition Requirements – Dancer
Juniors (ages 8-11) – A minimum of 2+ years of dance training.
Intermediates (ages 12-14) – A minimum of 4+ years of dance training.
Seniors (ages 15-21) A minimum of 6+ years of dance training in both Ballet and Jazz.

Audition Requirements – Vocalist
All singer/vocal candidates are required to have previous vocal training as well as basic experience in dance or movement.
