Whether you are researching the history of a house, have noticed an interesting building in the city or you want to learn more about the history of a neighbourhood, it can be tricky to know where to start. Join us for this one-hour learning session where we will use a case study to illustrate important tips and tricks to get the most out of resources and learning tools that are available online. VHF Program Manager, Sarah Carlson will share an overview of key online resources and VHF Special Projects, such as the Heritage Site Finder, Places That Matter Community History Resource, and ways your research can help add to further education and learning tools online. She will cover oral histories, videos, archival images and other forms on digital content. For the second part of the session Archival Assistant at the City of Vancouver Archives, Bronwyn Smyth, will touch on what kinds of records exist in the Archives’ holdings, and how to use the Archives’ database to search for those records. Bring your questions! This workshop earns 1 credit towards VHF’s Heritage Conservation Certificate.
