Jack Kenna’s exhibition, Tumbling Blocks, follows the Artist Residency he was awarded at the Burrard Arts Foundation. Jack Kenna is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Vancouver. His artistic practice extends fluidly across painting and sculpture, often incorporating found images, objects, and text. Drawing partially from his material surroundings, his compositions are highly considered and incorporate unconventional juxtapositions, uncanny backgrounds and close-up cropping of objects of subjective and sentimental value. Kenna also makes great use of the extensive cache of online imagery to develop a vocabulary of motifs that are constantly appearing, morphing, and reappearing in his practice. Kenna’s works incorporate a broad range of techniques allowing him to use varied methods of representation. Recent solo exhibitions include Inside Cat at Telephone Gallery at Macaulay & Co. Fine Art in Vancouver (2021), and A Clog in the Machine at The Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art in Kelowna (2020). Select group exhibitions include future relics of our time at Equinox Gallery (2022), I Like to Look at Curve Line Space in Los Angeles (2020), and In Over Our Heads at Franc Gallery in Vancouver (2020). Kenna holds a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art + Design (2019). Hours of operation: Tuesday-Saturday: 12pm-5pm Sunday-Monday: Closed COVID-19 information: The Burrard Arts Foundation has a COVID-19 safety plan in place to ensure gallery visitors are safe.
