Tech Manitoba and ICTC invite all Winnipeg residents to a virtual community engagement session to discuss new smart technology and Winnipeg

About this event:
On June 10th, 2021 Tech Manitoba in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) will be holding a public engagement session via Zoom to discuss the state of Winnipeg’s technology ecosystem and Canada’s smart cities project.

We want to meet and connect with Winnipeg residents on issues and opportunities impacting you, and how smart cities technology may play a role.

Although ‘smart cities’ may by be a bit of a buzzword, its impacts can be felt far and wide. From streetlights to sidewalks and even environmental sustainability, smart cities technology is everywhere. But the question is, what other smart city technologies can influence the way we live and work in Winnipeg? How will new ‘smart’ developments impact your experience in Manitoba? What needs to take place to ensure that Winnipeg implements smart technologies effectively, but also in a way that’s inclusive and accessible?

Join us on Thursday, June 10th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm CST, to explore these important questions, engage with others in the community, and provide your thoughts and suggestions on what your future Winnipeg could look like.

This event is open to all Winnipeg residents and those from the outlining region who’d like to share their insight, experiences, and engage with others on the issue.

This community engagement session will provide:

A brief update on the state of smart cities in Winnipeg and across Canada
Insights into new ‘smart’ technology and its impact on a ‘Smart Winnipeg’
Engagement with fellow Winnipeg residents on the topic of future smart city developments
*Following this event, ICTC will publish an overview article allowing all participants to share insights from this virtual forum.
