This December 2019, Toronto-based artist Sara Porter comes to Edmonton as part of Mile Zero’s #DanceCrush series to present Sara does a Solo. As part of this residency, Porter will be leading a four-day workshop for all levels of experience. Each class, Sara guides participants through a variety of improvisational movement work to warm up the body and awaken the senses. Followed by creative writing: gathering images, recording sensation and story, to expand imaginative scope. Voice work brings text into action, and each participant begins to craft that day’s story, building multi-disciplinary modes of delivery to integrate these forms into performance. Choreographic structures – blended with improvisation – supports presenting material at the end of each class. For artists of all experience levels. Bring comfortable clothes, pen & paper, and water bottle. Dec 9-13 10 am to 1 pm $175 for all four days or $50 per day Register: https://sara-porter-workshop.eventbrite.ca For more information: http://milezerodance.com/2017/classes-workshops/ About the artist Sara Porter is a multi-faceted performer, choreographer, vocalist and writer with a distinctive voice, a broad palette, and an eclectic career.
