Blues-rocking, soul-singing, stand-up drummer, songwriter and bandleader Lindsay Beaver returns home to Canada to take the stage on Friday, August 30th at the recently revitalized Surrey venue Shannon Hall on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds for her only lower mainland performance this year. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia and front woman for Toronto’s celebrated the 24th Street Wailers, Lindsay now lives in Austin, Texas. Following an extensive tour through Europe and the US, she is now touring Western Canada to support her first CD under her own name, Tough as Love, with the prestigious blues record label Alligator Records. This premiere collection of originals and covers shows off an eclectic and powerful blend of influences from Tupac, Billie Holliday, and Earl Palmer, to the Ramones and Queens of the Stone Age. She is accompanied by the talented and fiery guitarist Brad Stivers and rock-solid bassist Josh Williams. The Tough as Love album was nominated for the 2019 Blues Music Award “Best Emerging Artist Album.” An old soul at the age of 33, Lindsay’s passion for blue, roots, soul, and rock and roll began at an early age. With over a decade of music theory and live performances informing her talent she not only electrifies a room with soul-baring, powerfully crafted vocals, but does so while simultaneously playing a four-piece drum kit, holding down the rhythm section of her band.
