​FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact Information: Rabbi Shmuly Hecht 250-575-5384 Festival of Lights Celebration Monday, December 3, 2018 On Monday, December 3 join the Festival of Lights Hanukkah celebration at the Vernon Museum and Archives located at 3009 32 Avenue. Led by Rabbi Shmuly Hecht, this family friendly celebration represents religious freedom and diversity as well as an opportunity to learn about Jewish values, culture and tradition. Doors open at 5:00 and events will include build your own Menorah, sampling of traditional Hanukkah latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyah (doughnuts). There will also be a live demonstration on how to cook latkes. Enjoy music, a free raffle and traditional Hanukkah gifts for the kids. Donations are appreciated. Rabbi Shmuly Hecht says Chabad Okanagan will be bringing Chanukah celebrations to the entire valley, with the Chabad Okanagan’s Annual Chanukah Tour Across the Valley, now in its eighth year. “We service the whole Okanagan, so each year for Chanukah we try to make it around the whole valley in order to include everyone”. That means there will be a celebration and light up on December 2nd in Kelowna across from City Hall, December 3rd in Vernon at the GVMA – Museum, December 4th in Salmon Arm Piccadilly Mall, December 5th in Penticton at the Cannery, December 6th at the Oliver Correctional Centre, December 7th at KGH, and December 8th in Peachland.
