WAMS GALA LUNCHEON is presented by K + S Potash Canada, will celebrate two trailblazing Saskatchewan women while raising funds for groundbreaking MS research.

The event will begin with the VIP Champagne Reception at 11:00am featuring music by Jess Moskaluke.  Followed at noon by lunch, a silent auction and a friendly chat with Jess.  A multiple CCMA Award Winner, Jess will discuss her glass-ceiling-cracking career in country music and her experiences dealing with MS, having lost her father to the disease when she was just 16.

The 2018 WAMS will also celebrate the achievements of Jana Danielson as the first Community Health Innovator Award Honouree.  Jana’s LEAD PILATES and Lead Integrated Health Therapies offer movement classes, in addition to chiropractic, naturopathic, reflexology, physiotherapy and massage therapy services.  In 2016, Jana partnered with Dr. Charity Evans of the University of Saskatchewan to study the benefits of Pilates classes for people living with multiple sclerosis.  The results of the study were extremely encouraging and sparked the launch of the new Pilates MS Move class.

Founded over a decade ago by the MS Society of Canada, WAMS Luncheons have raised millions of dollars in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Halifax.  Now, for the first time in our province, the Saskatoon WAMS will support the End MS Research and Training Network’s Summer School and Scholar Program for Researchers IN Training (SPRINT) to be held in Saskatchewan in 2020.  These programs engage and support Canada’s brightest young scientists, fostering their interest in solving the mysteries of multiple sclerosis.

Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, with women being three times more likely to be diagnosed than men.  To learn more about multiple sclerosis, and the MS Society of Canada, visit MSSociety.ca.  For more on WAMS Saskatoon go to http://wamsgalask.ca, or contact Maggie Stevenson at 306-244-2114 x5051 or Maggie.Stevenson@mssociety.ca.
