Music Equals Benefit Concert

The Manitoba Conservatory of Music & Arts (MCMA) invites you to its Music Equals Benefit Evening, taking place on Sunday, October 14 at 7:00 pm at the University of Winnipeg Club located on the 4th floor of Wesley Hall.

There is no ticket cost for attending the event, but donations to the program would be greatly appreciated. Refreshments will be served.

The fundraising concert will feature a collection of jazz songs performed by Ian Hodges on guitar and Monica Jones on saxophone and vocals. All proceeds will go towards the MCMA’s music education outreach program, Music Equals, which brings the joy and empowerment of music to those in the community who face economic and social barriers to music opportunities.

Music Equals gives kids the opportunity to recognize their abilities while reaching their own unlimited potential. Each week, over 300 children and youth from Winnipeg’s inner city have the opportunity to learn an instrument through the Music Equals program.

“The Music Equals program is very beneficial to the students involved. All students are enthusiastic about attending music sessions and are focused and on task,” notes Cinzia Caputo, Principal at William Whyte School. “The students are motivated to come to school as a result of being in this program. Music learning is very important in all areas of academic success.”

The MCMA would really appreciate your attendance. This will absolutely be a musically entertaining evening, and all in support of a great cause.
