Village Session with Kris Ellestad

Beauty can be found in music of all kinds, and not just the kind of beauty that’s pretty and ethereal but the kind that is deep and profound and reminds you of the pain and joy of being human. Long considered one of Calgary’s best-kept musical secrets, folk singer Kris Ellestad’s music has this whole range of beauty. Kris joins Calgary’s classical performance ensemble, Kensington Sinfonia for their second Village Session Series, in the intimate setting of Village Brewery’s Taproom. Come hear the Sinfonia’s string quintet play music from the main series, arrangements written by the Sinfonia’s Artistic Director Donovan Seidle, and a solo set by Kris. Tickets are $25 and include a pint of Kensington Sinfonia’s new cask – an Early Grey, anise, peppercorn Blacksmith black ale – specially brewed for the show and a complimentary brewery tour.
