On February 1st, 2018, more than 70 members of 135 Bell-Irving Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron (RCACS) will host a march-in parade and open house to celebrate their return home to Seaforth Armouries located at 1650 Burrard St. The doors will open at 6:15PM with the parade beginning at 7:00PM. The event will include a Commanding Officer’s parade display by cadets, followed by a reception for the community. Members of the Seaforth Museum will also be available to conduct tours of the new facility. Since 1965, following the closure of RCAF Station Kitsilano, the iconic Seaforth Armouries has been the home of 135 RCACS and has remained the squadron’s home until renovations required them to relocate for 6 years ago. Now that the armoury renovations are complete, the squadron is being welcomed back by the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. The aim of the cadet organization is to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship, and leadership; promote physical fitness; and stimulate an interest in the activities of the Canadian Forces. Young people 12 to 18 years of age may enrol in cadets. The cadet program is led by officers from the Cadet Instructors Cadre, a sub-component of the Canadian Forces Reserve. 135 Bell-Irving RCACS parades on Thursday nights at the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Armouries, located at 1650 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC. Youth and parents interested in learning more about the air cadets program can contact 135 Bell-Irving RCACS at 135rcacs@gmail.com.
