Silent Movie: Nosferatu (1922) with live pipe organ accompaniment

What better way to celebrate Halloween than a rare screening of the 1922 German Expressionist horror film, “Nosferatu”? Experience this silent film with LIVE organ accompaniment, improvised in real-time on the massive 1912 Casavant pipe organ of Knox United Church. With 5,018 pipes, It is one of the largest pipe organs in Canada. “Nosferatu” is one of the silent era’s most influential masterpieces – its eerie, Gothic feel and a chilling performance from Max Schreck as the vampire set the template for the horror films that followed. With Canadian organist and master improviser, Carlos Foggin at the console, this is one v-eerie spooky event not to be missed. A special treat for music and movie lovers! Live organ accompaniments used to be common at the movies. And just like the old days, Mr. Foggin will play and improvise non-stop during the entire film. *Please note that this event is not suitable for children under 13. The concert takes place 9:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Knox United Church (506 – 4 Street SW, Calgary).
