Join historian Carla-Jean Stokes for a talk on Canadian First World War Photography at the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives next Speaker Series, Thursday November 9th from 7pm to 8pm. In 1914, photojournalists were banned from the Western Front, and “official” photographers would not be appointed by the Canadian government for another two years. How were Canada’s official photographers hired and trained? What do their photographs tell us of their approach to representing the war? Which images have endured, and which ones have been forgotten? Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Cost is $5.00/person at the door. For more information please contact the museum at 250-542-3142, visit http://www.vernonmuseum.ca or find us on facebook.
