The Heritage London Country Fair is organized by Heritage London Foundation to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial and Ontario 150. As custodian of two heritage buildings owned by the City of London, HLF’s goal in this special year is to draw attention to London’s early architectural gems. We celebrate this milestone at Grosvenor Lodge, a stunning Tudor Gothic manor house which was built in 1853, well before Confederation. Doors Open London has included the Lodge on this year’s list of special places that Londoners are encouraged to visit. It will be a fun day for families and Londoners of all ages. A petting zoo of farm animals from Touchstone Farms is a feature that will help to remind people that Grosvenor Lodge was a working farm until as recently as 1974. Other children’s activities include a Native blanket exercise, Heritage Hunt through the grounds, face-painting and more. Magician Steve Seguin will stroll through the grounds from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Other attractions include Forked River Brewing & Anderson Craft Ales selling small samples of their fine beers, Pelee Island Winery wine tasting, a “vintage market” with many wonderful local vendors of Ontario crafts and food. Along with a croquet game for adults, hot dogs will be on sale and we offer free cake and lemonade in the Tea Garden in the afternoon from 2-5 p.m.!
