Canada Day Celebration! - image

Every year the Kingsway Legion celebrates Canada Day with a large indoor outdoor family event with an attendance of 500+. We start off the day at 9 am with a Pancake & Sausage Breakfast, followed by a BBQ Hamburger or Hot Dog, Potato Salad and a pop lunch at noon both for a low $5/person. The Minister of Parliament, Ziad Aboultaif, MP Heather Sweet, and our local city councillor Arron Paquette, will be on hand to serve the meals and meet our patrons. In addition to the fundraising breakfast and lunch specials, there are plenty of activities for young and old. Weather permitting this year we are expanding our celebration to include outdoor activities as well. Planned activities include Bouncy Castles, Axe Throwing, Horseshoes, Snakes and Ladders, Colouring Contest, Canada Day Photo Op, Giant Jenga, Connect Four, Hopscotch and Lawn Croquet. Inside we will have tables set up to share information about the Kingsway Legion, the Royal Canadian Legion 100th Anniversary, Veterans Food Bank, Wounded Warriors, Military Collectors Club, Ladies Auxiliary, and the Veterans Association Food Bank which will also be collecting non-perishable food donations from Canada Day event attendees. Additional fundraising activities include a Twoonie Draw for some fabulous, donated prizes and 50/50 Draws. The highlight of the day is expected to be the Karaoke Competition or the mascots Little Ruck from the Veterans Association Food Band and Careful Curtis from St John Ambulance. St. John Ambulance is also providing us with Free Medical Support for the event.
