Now Hear This 2026 showcases an extraordinary roster of artists presenting innovative and visionary work across a wide spectrum of practices. From cutting-edge classical and experimental electronics to traditional Chinese instruments, video game music, sound art, dance, and free improvisation, the festival offers an experience unlike any other in the region—all packed into four unforgettable concerts. Closing the festival on June 13 is a landmark event featuring the internationally acclaimed ensemble Standing Wave, making their Edmonton debut. Known for their dedication to commissioning and performing works by living Canadian composers, Standing Wave will present a program featuring music by Linda Caitlin Smith, Bekah Simms, Dorothy Chang, and Nicole Lizée, integrating ensemble performance with video and live electronics. The evening will also include a special performance by a quartet of Edmonton musicians presenting two new works by composer Makenna Graham, performed from all four corners of the venue to create an immersive sonic environment.
