Hosted by Kelowna Women’s Shelter in partnership with: REAL Talk by Sagesse (Calgary) Domestic abuse is at epidemic levels in Canada: 1 in 3 Canadians will experience it in their lifetime. Most often, the first people they confide in are friends, family, coworkers, or neighbours. REAL Talk is a simple, engaging and practical workshop that helps you recognize domestic abuse, respond with empathy and know how to support someone in your life who may be experiencing it. In this one-hour session, participants will learn how to: – Recognize the signs of domestic abuse and coercive control. – Empathize with those impacted by abuse. – Ask questions that open doors to safety and support. – Listen in ways that validate and empower. This community workshop is part of Kelowna Women’s Shelter’s ongoing education efforts and is co-facilitated with REAL Talk in Calgary. Together, we can stand against domestic abuse and create safer, healthier communities.
