Feel the rhythm and discover how music has shaped the course of history and inspired social change with, Beyond the Beat: Music of Resistance and Change, travelling from the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. With artifacts ranging from Neil Young’s harmonica to stage outfits from Elton John through to Tegan & Sara and Public Enemy’s Chuck D, this exhibition showcases music as a powerful catalyst for social and political change with historical and contemporary examples. With dynamic displays and interactive experiences, visitors will learn the stories behind iconic songs and the artists who challenged the status quo through melody and lyric, as well as witness pivotal moments of collective action and personal empowerment against injustice.
