Want to write your own poems but don’t know where to start? Though all of us have the potential to write great poetry, building a toolkit of how poetic composition can be used makes the process easier, and we may even surprise ourselves with what we can achieve. This two-hour experiential and non-critiquing workshop will cover key poetic terms and devices through studying poems by a handful of modern and contemporary poets. Participants will then write new poetry drafts based off prompts provided by the instructor, with all feedback optional. No previous writing experience necessary! What You’ll Learn: – Basic elements of a poem – Basic poetry forms – How modern and contemporary poets use key poetic terms and devices
