In honor of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, Kingsway Mall is proud to present the “Survivor Portraits” exhibit by artist Damian Abrahams. This poignant exhibit showcases a series of portraits of Residential School survivors who are contributing to their family, community, and nation. Through this exhibition, Kingsway Mall aims to highlight that the history of residential schools is not distant, and survivors are still here, thriving despite the trauma they endured. The exhibit will feature large-format photography of six survivors, accompanied by their personal stories and messages. The launch event on September 22nd from 5-7pm will include a smudging ceremony, honor songs, opening remarks by the artist and survivors, and the unveiling of the portraits. Guests will be able to engage in meaningful dialogue, photography, and enjoy refreshments.
