Do you have pressing thoughts on every book you read? Have a special place in your heart for Canadian literature? Want to expand your community of fellow bookworms? If this sounds familiar, then the Reading by the Rivers Book Club at The Confluence is the perfect program for you! Every month, we will read a book by a Canadian author. On the last Thursday of the month, all readers will meet at The Confluence to discuss the book, eat, drink, and socialize with other book lovers. If you don’t own the book, don’t worry – all novels on our book list are accessible from the public library! This September, we’re reading “The Tiger Flu” by Larissa Lai. In this visionary novel by Larissa Lai—her first in sixteen years—a community of parthenogenic women, sent into exile by the male-dominated Salt Water City, goes to war against disease, technology, and powerful men that threaten them with extinction.
