The Ethiopian Summer Festival is a vibrant cultural event celebrating Ethiopian heritage and community, scheduled for August 31, 2024!
You are invited to come out to a fun and festive atmosphere that brings together the Ethiopian community and friends from diverse backgrounds to enjoy and learn about Ethiopian culture!
The festival will feature traditional Ethiopian music and dance performances, authentic Ethiopian food stalls, cultural exhibitions showcasing Ethiopian art, history, and crafts, activities and games for children and families, educational workshops and presentations on Ethiopian culture and history, and a market featuring local Ethiopian businesses and artisans.
Since its inception in 2010, organized by the Ethiopian Community Association, the festival has grown into an annual event requiring extensive preparation and community collaboration. The organizing committee, responsible for planning and executing the event, is dedicated to strengthening community identity, showcasing artists and businesses, and promoting Ethiopian heritage.
The festival’s vision is to cherish the community’s rich diversity and unite in cultural understanding. Its mission is to build a knowledgeable and motivated community to preserve and celebrate Ethiopian culture. The festival’s goals include being recognized as one of the most colorful and vibrant festivals in the city, highlighting youth achievements, and enriching Canada’s multicultural mosaic through Ethiopian food and music.
