Downtown Victoria comes alive with the sound of bagpipes, the spectacle of highland dancers and more at the Tartan Parade on Saturday May 11. The event takes place a week before the 161st Victoria Highland Games and Celtic Festival in Topaz Park which runs from May 18 to19. The parade starts in Centennial Square at 11 a.m. and travels down Government Street to the BC Legislature lawn consisting of pipe bands, highland dancers, floats, heavy event athletes and more. Pipe bands will play, the highland fling will be danced and a demonstration of the caber will be tossed by heavy-event athletes will take place after the parade on the lawn of the Legislature.
