This workshop is presented as part of Fort Calgary’s Chinook Blast 2024 programming. Explore the link between this world and the world of imagination in this 90-minute writing workshop on magical realism. In this workshop, writer Tereasa Maillie will discuss the history of the genre, the major workings of the style, including settings, tropes and characteristics, and teach attendees how to build worlds based in magical realism. Afterwards, attendees will have the opportunity to start creating a concept and world for their own magical realism piece.
