The Thousand Faces FestivalTHE 2017 THOUSAND FACES FESTIVAL https://www.thousandfaces.ca/ Our 2017 festival is a FREE (or by donation) event that celebrates the myths and stories at the roots of Edmonton’s many cultures through theatre, storytelling, music, dance, and art. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A STRING OF MYTHIC PEARLS: Starting at 6:30PM – Friday, May 26 & Saturday, May 27 The Thousand Faces Festival's "A String of Mythic Pearls" is a night of luxurious mythic performance art, intertwined with a delectable multicultural feast. Join us on Alberta Ave at night for this unique, ADULTS-ONLY feast of performance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MYTHIC FAMILY JEWELS: Starting at 12:00PM – Saturday, May 27 & Sunday, May 28 During the day, #ThousandFacesYEG celebrates "Mythic Family Jewels," a family-friendly event for kids aged 4-94. This part of the festival includes magical mythic performances outside and in at Alberta Avenue Park. Enchanting storytelling sends you on a magical adventure through vast lands, while Cree hoop dancing brings a whirl of delight. 7th annual Medieval MayKnights of the Northern Realm present their 7th annual Medieval May at King Edward Hall (7708 – 85 Street NW) in partnership with the King Edward Community League and the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues. 14th century Fashion Show at Noon Displays on Medieval History staffed by club members, volunteers, Edmonton Magpie Morris Dancers, The King's University, and the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada, Topics range from arms and armour to clothing and feasts to manuscripts and heraldry. Tournament Combat in real armour on the hour. Period Dancing with Lady Jeanette on the half hour. Medieval weapon demonstration at 2 pm by Squire Garrett. 2017 AMFA Provincial Choral, Music & Speech FestivalChoral, music, and speech students from across the province converge at Edmonton’s MacEwan University’s Alberta College Campus (10050 MacDonald Drive NW) and historic McDougall United Church (10025 101 Street NW) from Sunday, May 28 to Saturday, June 3, 2017, to compete at the 2017 Alberta Music Festival Association (AMFA) Provincial Choral, Music & Speech Festival. Competitors have successfully competed at their respective local festivals (36 in total around Alberta and the Northwest Territories) to have the chance to compete at the Provincial Festival. Some competitors will be chosen to go on to represent Alberta at the 2017 National Music Festival taking place in Ottawa this August.
