Always wanted to try ice fishing but just don't have the know-how? This FREE event is for you! How does it work? Park at Waterfront Park located at the end of 50th Street in the Village of Wabamun. Bring a toboggan to pull your folding chairs, snacks and extra jackets to the event on the ice. Sign in at the TransAlta/ACA registration tent. Pick up a loaner ice fishing rod and fishing tips from Cabela’s. Find a pre-drilled ice fishing hole and drop a line. Ask roving fishing mentors for help with your rod and reel, ice fishing tips, and how safely handle and release fish. Afraid you’ll get a little chilly? Warm up with free hot chocolate care of Parkland County and try fishing from inside a Cabela’s ice fishing tent. There are hot dogs and snacks for hungry anglers, thanks to Wabamun Chamber and ATB. Bring your skates and hockey sticks, too. The Village of Wabamun will clear a skating oval and rink for pond hockey on the lake. The event is on Alberta's Family Fishing Weekend, so fishing licences are not required. Fishing regulations still apply. Wabamun Lake is catch-and-release.

Edmonton based recording artist Colleen Rae is a multi-talented singer, songwriter and musician. Rae's What You Need Is Me album yielded seven nationally and internationally charted singles and garnered nominations by the WCMA, TIMA and CCMA. A natural on stage, Colleen has performed at festivals and venues across the province including the Winspear, The Brier, Big Valley Jamboree and the Calgary Stampede. Front Porch Roots Revue return for their annual "theme" concert after selling out their 40th anniversary tribute to "The Last Waltz" this past spring. This season the Porch crew unveils a night of "Classic Country-Rock and Swing" and the core group of Ron Rault, Thom Moon, Crawdad Cantera and Gord Matthews return with One Horse Blue vocalist Ian Oscar and a few other special guests. The musical menu will embrace tunes from the songbooks of Waylon Jennings, Danny O'Keefe and Poco, to The Byrds, Commander Cody, The Eagles and The New Riders of the Purple Sage, all done with a tasty Front Porch spin.

World-renowned superstars whose music is "as deeply compassionate as it is invigorating, as accessible as it is virtuosic" (Time Out New York), The Klezmatics erupted out of New York's East Village in 1986 and revitalized klezmer for the new century. The music is steeped in Eastern European/ Jewish tradition and spirituality, while incorporating contemporary themes such as human rights and anti-fundamentalism. The Klezmatics have collaborated with numerous luminaries, including Pulitzer Prize playwright Tony Kushner and folk hero Arlo Guthrie to name a few. They have performed at some of the world's most storied venues and festivals and their accolades include a GRAMMY Award for "Best Contemporary World Music Album" and the New York Jewish Music Award for "Best Klezmer Band".
