2017 Festival Of Banners has started again this year until April 1st. Come into Nanaimo's North Town Centre and paint a banner. Title The Wonders of Canada, Canada 150TH. Ages 8 Year's old to 99 Year's old can paint a banner to be hung up in downtown Nanaimo. $20.00 registration fee to paint a small banner or large banner. Pick up a registration form at The festival of banners or at customer service in North Town Centre in Nanaimo. Draw your drawing out on a 4" by 8" Cardstock that is included in the registration form. Outline your work in a fine Sharpie permanent marker and color it with pencil crayons. Then we will transfer it onto a banner for you to paint. All supplies is included, if you want to use your own paint brushes bring them when you are scheduled to paint and Wear paint clothes when you come to paint. Artist has first choice to buy your banner with a $10.00 deposit then when they take them down you can buy your painting for a small is $30.00 and a large is $40.00 to buy back. If you don't want to buy your banner back it will be sold to the public.

On Saturday, March 25th from 1:00 to 4:30pm, over 120 students visiting from Yokohama High School in Japan will be presenting Japan Fair hosted by MYK Enterprises at Brockton School in North Vancouver. This is a great family event and an opportunity to experience Japanese culture first hand. The students from Yokohama High School prepare many months for this event and are excited to share their culture! Visitors will be able to take part in many cultural activities including traditional Japanese tea ceremony, calligraphy, anime and cultural demonstrations such as martial arts, Japanese traditional dance, and much more! Lucky participants will have a chance to win one of many door prizes!

LitFest New West 2017 has an exciting festival planned. The event has gone back to the basics with the theme Readers, Writers, and Community. The aim is to bring together a variety of programming through readings, storytelling, workshops for kids and adults, and discussions. Celebrate springtime at the 2017 Sakura Days Japan Fair (SDJF), a family-friendly, weekend Japanese festival, on Saturday April 8 from 11am to 7pm, and Sunday April 9 from 11am to 5pm. Now in its fifth year, the rEvolver Theatre Festival is Vancouver’s late spring celebration of Canadian contemporary performance work by emerging and early mid career artists. This year’s slate of adventurous, high energy and sophisticated new works includes productions by Luciterra Dance Company, Ode. Movements Society, rice & beans theatre, Skinny Walrus Project, and Wild Women Theatre—all locally based. Highlights also include The Princess Show, a co-production by Heist and Theatre Outré from Halifax, which won Best in Fest award at the 2016 Atlantic Fringe Festival. Toronto-based Haley McGee, brings her one-woman show, I’m Doing This for You. Ramshackle Theatre from Whitehorse presents Tombstone, a visually stunning all-ages cardboard puppet show and live movie.
