Annie Burns-Pieper

Annie joined 16×9 as a producer in October 2015. She has worked on a wide range of topics including tax havens, pipelines, gender selective abortions, legalization of marijuana and the plight of wild horses in Alberta. She has worked for CTV’s W5, CBC the fifth estate, CBC’s national investigative unit and Marketplace. One of her notable stories was the result of a year-long investigation into suicides occurring in hospitals in Canada. This investigation won the media award from the Ontario Psychological Association and illuminated the under reported issue of inpatient suicide. Annie is passionate about public interest investigative journalism and aims to tell compelling stories that expose wrongdoing, inaction or injustice. Annie has two masters degrees in journalism from Ryerson University and in global history from the London School of Economics. In her undergrad she studied international development focusing on gender issues and Spanish language at Dalhousie University.
