A car crash outside Los Angeles International Airport Friday night prompted police to shutdown Terminal 4 after the sound of the crash was reported as gun shots.
The incident happened just before 8 p.m. PST when according to reports on Twitter, heavily armed police officers began evacuating parts of the airport and searching for a suspect.
A short while later it was realized it was an accident outside of the airport that was to blame for the call.
Police in Los Angeles are on high alert after a lone gunman opened fire at LAX earlier this month, injuring several people and killing a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent.
