Watch above: Nevada judge dresses as Fairy Godmother to finalize adoptions
TORONTO – A Las Vegas judge dressed up as a fairy godmother costume as she made the adoption dreams come true for six families Thursday.
Judge Cynthia Giuliani told the courtroom her goal was to get children into permanent, stable homes with loving, caring families.
“There’s a big need for these adoptive families and this is a fun way to get the word out and to treat these families special,” said Giuliani as she finalized the adoptions in the ceremony.
Several of the children also wore Halloween costumes, some dressed up as bunnies, princesses and ninjas.
According to a local news station, many of these children spent years without a permanent home.
One grandmother spent three years trying to adopt her grandsons and get them out of foster care.
“It means a lot to me because they mean everything to me,” said Wondene Jones in an interview with KTNV.com. “I just didn’t want them to be feeling like nobody loved them. I want them to know I love them.”
