Father charged in Prince Albert shooting death of son

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A father is in jail after being accused of shooting and killing his son near Prince Albert, Sask. on Tuesday.

Larry James McDougald, 66, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 45-year-old Terry McDougald.

Police say Terry McDougald had gone to the rural property around 8 a.m. with two other men to claim some property in what appears to have been an ongoing dispute.

Larry McDougald is then alleged to have shot his son.

He is also charged with attempted murder and pointing a firearm after firing at a second man and aiming his rifle at the third. Neither man were injured.

Larry McDougald is scheduled to appear in a Prince Albert courtroom on Wednesday to answer to the charges.
