Lloydminster schools on lockdown after high-risk sex offender escapes

LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. – Schools on both sides of the border in Lloydminster are on heightened alert after a high-risk sex offender escaped into the community on Tuesday.

Micheal Sean Stanley cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet in the border city after traveling there from Edmonton.

Stanley has a long history of sexual offences and is known to have taken children from playgrounds.

In a letter to parents and students, the public school division is warning everyone to keep an eye out for Stanley.

Michael Diachuk, director of education at the public school division, also said they are taking additional action.

“If your child walks to and from school, please make arrangements for transportation to and from school.”

Students will be kept inside schools during recess and lunch.

The catholic division is also under lockdown until further notice.

Both school divisions say the added measures will remain in place until they are certain the danger has passed.
