LAKE COUNTRY – Two people have been found dead after an ATV crash off Oyama Road in Lake Country.
RCMP were called out to look for the couple at 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon when the pair had not returned from their back country excursion the night before.
They were riding an ATV, which was found just after 2 p.m. by Search and Rescue, 50 feet down a steep embankment off Oyama Road.
“One of the instructions to our search team was to look along sides of the roads for any tracks that lead off the road, ” explains Rob Braun, part of the search team that found the bodies, “It didn’t take much. Sure enough we came up the road and we see a set of tracks the right width for a quad. We look over the embankment and we can see the quad down there.”
While police are still investigating the accident, it appears the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road.
No names have been released.
