Conrich residents stranded after deluge of rain

CALGARY – Some residents east of Calgary say they’re trapped by flooding, after a series of heavy downpours.

The hamlet of Conrich just east of Calgary has been drenched with rain for the past few days, flooding driveways and roads.

For people like Kathryn Komarnisky, it meant she had to crawl through a barbed wire fence just to leave her house.

A small access road was only just built Wednesday morning,

Residents are wondering why it took so long.

“I haven’t been able to get out of the property to do my work,” says Kathryn. “I can’t do my groceries.”

But Rocky View County says they only have so many trucks and workers to help sort out the situation, and Conrich isn’t the only area with flooding.

Parts of Bearspaw are also underwater.

Rain remains in the forecast for Calgary and the surrounding areas for the next 24 hours.
