TORONTO — A motorist has described how she nearly ran over pop star George Michael after he tumbled out of a moving vehicle on a busy British highway last week.

“He was lucky he didn’t die,” Katherine Fox told U.K. newspaper The Sun.

The 23-year-old nanny said she saw Michael fall out the rear door of a silver Range Rover traveling at about 70mph and skid along the pavement.

Fox said the 49-year-old singer’s Adidas tracksuit was torn, his shoes were missing and he was covered in blood.

“There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth,” she recalled. “He was breathing and conscious but in shock.”

Fox said Michael’s friends, who were in the Range Rover, told her he had opened the door because it wasn’t properly closed.

She said the former Wham! singer seemed to be in shock. “George didn’t say anything,” she told the Sun.

Michael was airlifted to hospital following the May 16 accident. He was reportedly treated for scrapes and bruises and released.

In 2010, the pop star was banned from driving for five years as part of a sentence for crashing his car into a London storefront while under the influence of marijuana.
