Four people charged in connection with officer involved shooting

EDMONTON – Three young offenders and one adult have been charged after Thursday’s robbery, weapons complaint, and pursuit in Edmonton’s west end.

Around 4 a.m. Thursday, police responded to an armed robbery call at a convenience store in the area of 127 Avenue and 97 Street.

At 5:45 a.m., police responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 96 Avenue and 180 Street. Police believe this call involved the same suspects as the alleged robbery.

When police arrived on scene, the suspects fled, which sparked a police pursuit that ended near Whitemud Drive and 215 Street.

Shots were fired by police. One person suffered minor injuries from a gunshot wound.

Six people were taken into custody, and four of them were charged.

Three young offenders are facing numerous charges, including robbery with a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

An arrest warrant on one of the youth was also executed.

An adult was charged with two counts of breach of recognizance.

Police officers were not injured.
