Watch: New video aims to attract tourists to Calgary

CALGARY – A new eye-catching video promoting Calgary is making the rounds on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

The video, released Tuesday night, is part of the ‘Be Part of the Energy’ campaign which aims to attract tourists and business to Calgary.

The snapshot of the city is a project from four local agencies, including Tourism Calgary, Calgary Economic Development, the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre and the Calgary Hotel Association.

Randy Williams from Tourism Calgary says the video reflects what a youthful city Calgary is.

“All our research shows that’s how people see us,” says Williams. “That comes through very much loud and clearly in the video.”

It also offers a glimpse at the active lifestyle many Calgarians lead.

“We have more pathways per capita than any other city in North America,” adds Williams.

According to Tourism Calgary, Calgary welcomed 4.7 million visitors in 2009.
