TORONTO – Two Global News reporters have been named finalists for outstanding investigative journalism in Canada for 2012.

The Canadian Association of Journalists released the final list of nominees Monday.

IN DEPTH: GARDINER EXPRESSWAY – TROUBLE OVERHEAD

Both Leslie Young and Jackson Proskow are nominated in the CAJ/Marketwire Data Journalism category for their series ‘Gardiner Expressway – Trouble overhead.’  In December, a Global News investigation revealed thousands of documents detailing the state of the aging Gardiner Expressway and the significant safety concerns associated with the aging highway.

Last week, city crews focused on repairs on the western section of the Gardiner as over the past year, large chunks of concrete have fallen from the expressway.

Some advocate that the Gardiner should be torn down while others believe that repairing might be the best option.
