Lindsay Hamilton and Cory James are much like any fiancés about to get married. Holding hands, sharing a quick kiss and swooning over each other.

How they got to this point is pretty unique.

It started four years ago when they were strangers, sitting seats apart as the Saskatchewan Roughriders hosted the 2013 Labour Day Classic.

“The game had already started and I had noticed her a little bit before that, and I reached over and tapped her on the shoulder, and said ‘Hey, did you know your panties match your headband?’,” James said.

“I pulled down the little corner of my shorts and sure enough … there they were … pink panties,” Hamilton said.

“I don’t have many pick-up lines, but that one was on the fly and worked for me that day,” James laughed.

Surprisingly, Hamilton also thought he was funny, so she gave him a chance and her number too.

“[We] texted each other that day until my phone died,” he said.

The pair now live in Govan, Sask., where Cory is a electrician and Lindsay is a personal trainer in Regina. They have a house, two dogs and in just a few weeks they will tie the knot.

Before that, they are going back to where it all began four years ago: the Labour Day Classic.

“Out of the whole year, we try to make it to this one game, as it’s … [our] anniversary of when we [met],” she said.
