A child has died and a female driver sustained significant injuries in a single-vehicle rollover southwest of Edmonton Saturday night.
In a release Sunday afternoon, RCMP said a late model Ford pick-up lost control around 8 p.m. Saturday and rolled into a guard rail on Highway 39 and Range Road 52 near Breton, Alberta.
Crews discovered an eight-year-old girl died as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision. The female driver also had significant injuries and was taken to an Edmonton hospital for treatment.
It is not known if alcohol or weather were factors in the collision. Crews continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
The village of Breton is located 108 kilometres southwest of Edmonton and 58 kilometres southeast of Drayton Valley.
