Ask before hunting on private land: Saskatchewan government

The Saskatchewan government is reminding hunters in the province to get permission before hunting on private land.

While permission isn’t required on unposted land, Environment Ministry officials said good hunting ethics includes asking for approval from the landowner before proceeding with their hunt.

For posted land, hunters must contact the owner to gain permission before accessing the private land.

Landowners and lessees have the right to post land access information, which provides clarity for hunters as to what is permitted.

Two Manitoba men were recently fined in Saskatchewan for hunting on posted land without obtaining permission.

There are also vehicle control regulations in certain parts of Saskatchewan.

Near Saskatoon, and in the southeast portion of the province, big game hunters must have written permission to drive vehicle off roads and trails.
