Medlock, 33, just finished his first season in the blue and gold. He set a CFL record in 2016 for most field goals in a season. Medlock connected on 60 of his 68 field goal attempts to break Dave Ridgway’s 26 year old record. Medlock is also the league’s most accurate kicker of all-time with a career field goal percentage of 87.7 percent. He also tied the Bombers club record for longest field goal when he booted a 58 yarder.

“It’s exciting,” Medlock said. “It’s an honour to win this award. A lot of hard work throughout the year. It was definitely the goal. First day I walked into Investors Group Field and I saw that Most Outstanding Special Team Player and I was hoping to get on that wall.”

Medlock is scheduled to be a free agent in February, but he sounded like a player intent on returning to the Bombers.

“A couple of little pieces and we’re going to be back up there in Grey Cup hopefully,” said Medlock. “I just think we’re doing good things. I think we have a great coach. He’s such a positive guy. He knows how to get on us when we need to. And when he doesn’t need to get on us when we’re down, right, picks us back up.”
