Saskatoon Transit routes disrupted Thursday by ATU 615 job action

Job action by members of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 615 has forced Saskatoon Transit to cancel nearly 60 buses on numerous routes during Thursday afternoon and evening service.

This includes almost 20 buses on high school routes:

  • Route311 – from Walter Murray and Aden Bowman to Exhibition at 2:25 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 81 to Centre Mall.
  • Route 311 – from Holy Cross to Exhibition at 12:40 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 81 to Centre Mall.
  • Route 323 – from Bethlehem and Tommy Douglas to Confederation Mall at 12:55 p.m., 1:07 p.m., 1:22 p.m., 1:34 p.m., 1:50 p.m., 2:02 p.m., 2:17 p.m. and 2:29 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 23 to Confederation Mall.
  • Route 331 – from Holy Cross to Centre Mall at 12:40 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 81 to Centre Mall.
  • Route 331 – from Aden Bowman and Walter Murray to Centre Mall at 2:27 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 81 to Centre Mall.
  • Route 332 – from Holy Cross to Lakeview at 12:40 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 81 to Centre Mall.
  • Route 338 – from Walter Murray to Lakeview/Lakeridge at 2:25 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 81 to Centre Mall.
  • Route 342 – from E.D. Feehan to Confederation Terminal, Pacific Heights, Dundonald and Westview at 12:40 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 5 to Confederation Mall.
  • Route 342 – from Bedford Road and Mount Royal to Confederation Terminal, Pacific Heights, Dundonald and Westview at 2:40 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 5 to Confederation Mall.
  • Route 352 – from St. Joseph to College Park at 12:40 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 45 to 103rd Street and Central Avenue; then transfer to Route 18.
  • Route 358 – from Bishop Murray to Downtown at 12:50 p.m. Students will have to catch Route 81 to Centre Mall.

  • Route 8 – from Centre Mall to Downtown at 4:09 p.m.
  • Route 8 – from Downtown to Centre Mall at 4:30 p.m.
  • Route 8 – from Centre Mall to Downtown at 6:02 p.m.
  • Route 14 – from Downtown to North Industrial at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • Route 20 – South Industrial Special from Melville and Brand to Downtown at 4:06 p.m. and 5:06 p.m.
  • Route 22 – from Downtown to Montgomery at 3:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.
  • Route 22 – from Confederation Mall to Montgomery at 3:29 p.m.
  • Route 23 – Blairmore from Confederation Mall to Shaw Centre at 3:47, 4:24 p.m. and 4:54 p.m.
  • Route 23 – from Shaw Centre to Confederation Mall at 3:15 p.m., 3:35 p.m., 3:55 p.m., 3:57 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 5:05 p.m.
  • Route 35 – from Downtown to Silverwood Heights at 6:15 p.m. 7:15 p.m., 8:15 p.m., 9:15 p.m., 10:15 p.m., 11:15 p.m. and 12:17 p.m.
  • Route 83 – from Centre Mall to Stonebridge at 5:00 p.m.
  • Route 84 – from Centre Mall to Briarwood at 3:00 p.m.
  • Route 86 – from Centre Mall to Rosewood at 2:30 p.m.
  • Route 101 – University Direct from Campus Drive and Campus Drive to Lakeview at 2:40 p.m.
  • Route 102 – University Direct from Campus Drive and Campus Drive to Lakewood at 2:35 p.m.
  • Abilities Special #1 and #2 from Abilities Council to Downtown at 4:15 p.m.
  • Luther Tower #25 Special – from Midtown Mall to Luther Tower at 2:00 p.m.
  • Luther Tower #25 Special – from Luther Tower to Market Mall/Cope Terminus at 2:15 p.m.
  • Luther Tower #25 Special – from Market Mall/Cope Terminus to Luther Tower at 2:36 p.m.

Higher passenger volumes resulting in full buses are expected on most other routes in the city for the remainder of the day.

City officials said drivers are refusing to work overtime and with the current work to rule campaign, delays, cancellations and overcrowding on other buses is possible.

Transit officials said they are reducing bus frequencies on some routes in response to the refusal of transit drivers to work overtime.

Access Transit is not affected as it is an essential service.
