Timeline: Homicides in Halifax in 2016

There have been 12 homicides in Halifax since the beginning of 2016, according to Halifax Regional Police.

Here is a timeline of the homicides Halifax police have been investigating:

Jan. 21:  Frank John Lampe, 58, was found dead in an apartment building hallway on Harlington Crescent.

Officers arrested 20-year-old Elias Lampe at a nearby bus stop later that evening. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in the death of his father.

March 2: Blaine Clothier was found stabbed to death in an apartment building on Autumn Drive after police responded to a call of a suspicious death.

Later that day, Benjamin Joshua Gillis was arrested and subsequently charged with second-degree murder.

March 25: Kristin Johnston was found dead in her home on Oceanview Drive after police responded to a 911 call that was made inside the home.

Johnston, originally from Montreal, was a popular yoga instructor in Halifax.

Nicholas Butcher, who was in a domestic partnership with Johnston at the time of her death, has been charged with second-degree murder.

March 29: Joseph Cameron was found shot dead on Mount Edward Drive.

Two teenagers, 15 and 17, were charged with first-degree murder in the young man’s death.

April 17: Tyler Richards, a former Halifax Rainmen basketball player, was found dead in a house on Cook Avenue.

Richards’ death was one of four added to the Justice Department’s Major Unsolved Crimes list in May.

April 19: Naricho Clayton was shot dead on Gottingen Street on the night of April 19.

 April 23: Daverico Downey was found shot to death on a pathway on Downey Road.

His death was the third shooting death in the city that week, sparking police and the public to plea for an end to the violence.

August 23: Tylor McInnis was found dead in the trunk of a car in the St. Thomas Baptist Church in North Preston.

Police arrested five men. Three were eventually charged with first-degree murder in the homicide.

Sept. 1: Rickey Walker was found by police near John MacNeil Elemtary School in Dartmouth after calling police to say he had been shot.

He was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

So far, no one has been charged in his death.

Nov. 12: Shakur Jefferies was found shot to death between two apartment buildings on Washmill Lake Drive in Bayer’s Lake.

The next day, Carvel Clayton, a Halifax rapper, was charged with second-degree murder in relation to the shooting.

Nov. 14: Terrance Patrick Izzard, 58, was found with life-threatening injuries after officers were called to Cragg Avenue for reports of shots fired.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Nov. 21: Tyler Keizer, 22, was found shot inside a vehicle near the corner of Gottingen and Faulkner streets after police responded to several 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Officers believe the suspect ran away from the scene.
