Police have identified the 50-year-old Toronto man found at the side of a road in Markham and investigators have confirmed he died from a gunshot wound.
York Regional Police responded to Old Kennedy Road, north of Steeles Avenue East, at around 5:40 a.m. Monday after Kong Wu Wang was found without vital signs. He was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.
A police source with knowledge of the investigation told Global News Monday the incident started when two men were carjacked at gunpoint at a strip mall in the Finch and Midland avenues area.

The source said the victim was allegedly shot several times and driven in the stolen vehicle to Markham where Wang’s body was found.
The suspects then drove the stolen vehicle to the Don Mills Road and Steeles Avenue East area and set it on fire, the source said.
