The mother of a Saskatchewan man slain while living in Honduras has received long-awaited news – a man believed to be involved in her son’s death has been arrested.
Dallas Martens, 31, who was originally from Martensville, had moved to Honduras with his new wife Krissy Larsen-Martens.
His mother, Verna Martens, learned Saturday that an arrest had been made.
“It’s just something that I had prayed for seven years – all the time,” she said.

The couple were celebrating their first anniversary on Sept. 18, 2009, when they were approached by hooded gunmen on the island of Roatan, where they lived.
The pair planned to adopt a local boy, Verna Martens said.
Dallas was shot and killed when he allegedly tried to put himself between the gunmen and his wife.
“I could not believe that someone hated my son so much that they would murder him,” his mother said.

Six men were arrested shortly after Martens was killed, but were later released.
On Oct. 30, Policia Nacional de Honduras announced they had arrested Charles Félix Sanders Webster, 35, in Martens’ death.
Webster is facing charges of plotting a murder, being an accessory to a murder and withholding information from police.
According to Policia Nacional de Honduras, Webster is a native of Roatan, which is located approximately 65 kilometres off the northern coast of Honduras.
