Husky Energy (TSX:HSE) has been granted a 30-day extension to file a technical report into its pipeline oil spill into the North Saskatchewan River.
Husky was granted the extension to submit a metallurgic report on the failed pipe and a geotechnical report on lands where the leak happened.

They are being prepared for Husky by third-party engineer firms.
According to an update into the spill provided by Husky on Friday, 225,000 litres of oil spilled into the North Saskatchewan River near Maidstone, Sask., on July 21.

The spill forced communities downstream from the spill to shut down water intakes on the river and to find alternative sources of potable water while clean-up efforts took place.
Those communities have since been told that water from the river is now safe to use.
Husky said it recovered 210,000 litres of oil from the spill that covered 41,500 square metres, with 15,000 litres lost.
The final report from Husky into cause of the oil spill, including background studies to support the company’s conclusions, is due on or before Nov. 21.
