A Calgary garbage truck driver called the fire department just before noon Friday, after he noticed his load was on fire.
Fire crews said the operator was forced to dump the contents of his truck into the street along Ogden Road and 50 Avenue Southeast.

Officials said leakage from the dumped garbage was contained to a catch basin and did not make it into the sewer system.
It’s unclear what caused the fire to start, or whether the material was already burning when the driver picked up the garbage.
No one was hurt.
