A 46-year-old Toronto man has been arrested in Halifax in connection with the death of a 47-year-old man inside a Toronto house.
The Halifax Police Service received a call early Sunday morning saying the suspect was at a local home. When police arrived, the man identified himself and he was taken into custody. The man briefly appeared in court.
Toronto police said emergency crews were called to a Davenport Road house, near Old Weston Road, Thursday afternoon where they found the body of Toronto resident David Brenner.
A post-mortem examination revealed Brenner died from multiple blunt-force trauma injuries.
Police released a photo and description of the suspect Saturday.
During a press conference Sunday, Toronto police Det. Robert North said police will be travelling to Nova Scotia to bring the man back to Ontario. Police are investigating how the suspect got to Halifax and where he was planning to go.
North said the suspect and the victim were acquaintances for an “extended period of time.” He said both men were known to police.
Anthony Brake has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.
He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court later this week.
