WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added five players to their practice roster on Tuesday.

Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, receiver Lonnie Outlaw, defensive back Keith Lewis, and defensive tackles Brandon Williams and Erik Williams were all added to the practice roster.

Bethel-Thompson, 28, appeared in three pre-season games with the Philadelphia Eagles but was released at the end of training camp. He’s also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins.

CFL teams can expand their practice roster by five players to as many as 15 following the finalization of NFL rosters. Clubs have a 30-day window to expand their practice rosters.

The Bombers held their first full practice since Saturday’s win over the Toronto Argonauts. Running back Andrew Harris and receiver Weston Dressler were among a handful of players who didn’t take part. Harris’ status for this week’s game against the Calgary Stampeders will probably once again be a last minute decision.

“We would still feel comfortable putting him in without practice.” said head coach Mike O’Shea. “Ideally you’d like to see him run around. But we’re not going to push him and we feel comfortable if he says he’s available.”

The news is not so good for receiver Gerrard Sheppard who left last week’s game with a lower body injury.

“Gerrard Sheppard will be out.” O’Shea said. “I can’t give a timeline but it’s certainly going to be more than a week or two.”

The Bombers are preparing to face the 10-1-1 Stampeders on Saturday. The Stamps are unbeaten in their last 11 straight games.
